Conflicts

University of Phoenix has been quite difficult for me; not because the work is too hard, but because of the self-learning, electronic communications environment. We are put into learning teams, which also in part has been quite challenging because everyone has different thought processes and opinions and also everyone is in different timezones. In the particular team I’m in this month, I’ve noticed that one of my team members are pretty demanding and has the “always right, never wrong” mentality. So I expressed my opinion about a particular subject, in which I doubt she was exposed to in past learning teams, and she fired back with a post that seemed pretty argumentative.

Everyone has the right to express their opinions. I was not arguing, just letting the team know my concern. I must’ve fired her up because she wrote something that seemed like she was offended. And to be honest, I got pretty offended myself and wanted to fire back to her with the same mentality. However, instead of stooping to that level, I just let her know that my opinion was an opinion; not an argument. Also, I let her know that I do respect everyone’s opinions and concerns and I therefore would appreciate if mines were considered as well.

Why make something big out of nothing? I’m not just going to sit back and be submissive when I have an opinion or concern about something, especially in a group! Dusting my shoulders off!
